I need help!

I have a last minute school emergency and need some help! Well, I wouldn't call it an emergency really but now that I have your attention I do need some ideas!

So I have to take snack and volunteer at preschool tomorrow. I bought gingerbread cookies for the kids (a no-no because it's not 'healthy' but I thought I could get away with it for Christmas!) I was just looking at the lable a minute ago and it was processed in a plant that has tree nuts. There is a little girl in the class that is allergic to tree nuts. Peanut butter is fine, no kids allergic to that, but nothing with tree nuts. I'm not sure how severe her allergy is but I know her family and she was hospitalized this year for it (I think that's how they found the allergy). So I don't want to risk it. I considered taking something else for her and letting the other kids have it but didn't think that was fair. So i need help figuring out something else to take. I'm also taking strawberry yougurt and apple juice. I like to do things that are different. Almost every day I pick Gavin up I ask him what he had for snack and he says Goldfish or Cheez-its. Which I don't think is really 'healthy' but is accepted.

Funny thing is, this will be my 3rd time buying a snack for school this week! Last week I was supposed to do it but it snowed so we didn't have school and I let the boys eat what I'd bought. The teacher offered me Monday since you get $15 off tuition if you volunteer. Lol, I've spent way more than $15 in snacks this time! Anyway I could really use some suggestions.

IntelliGender and IntelliCeuticals giveaway

If you are pregnant or planning on becoming pregnant, here's a fun giveaway for you!

IntelliGender, which most of you already know, is an early gender prediction test. I so wish that I was pregnant so I could review this. It would be so much fun! But... I'm not, so one of my lucky readers will win both the IntelliGender test and a bottle of IntelliCeuticals Conceive-Ease Flower Essence (a $62 value).

About IntelliGender:
IntelliGender's gender prediction test is basically a urine analysis. It's a lot like the at home pregnancy tests. Except for POAS, you pee in a cup. It turns green for a boy and orange for a girl.

From IntelliGender.com
"It uses first morning urine and a proprietary mix of chemicals which reacts with a combination of hormones to indicate the gender of your baby.  It can be performed as early as 10 weeks of pregnancy (six weeks from the first day of the missed period). It is an easy test to perform and provides quick results in-home so the news can be shared right away.

IntelliGender reminds all pregnant moms that seeing an obstetrician early in the pregnancy is critical for the health of the mother and the baby and should follow the advice of their physician.

You simply collect first morning urine and insert into the test vessel.  Swirl rapidly in a circular motion, place the test on a flat white surface undisturbed for minutes."

 About IntelliCeuticals Conceive-Ease Flower Essence:

The Conceive-Ease Flower Essence is a 100% natural formula that enhances fertility and helps with conception. It's made up of pomegranate, citrine gem essence, aquamarine gem essence, flowering cherry essence, pink camellia, tourmaline gem essence, and wild iris.

The Boys Store $25 gift card giveaway

Some of you may remember the giveaway I done back in May for The Boy's Store. I said we'd do another one and here we are!

Just for those of you who may not have entered the last giveaway, The Boy's Store is an online store that's just for boys. Here's a little of what I wrote on the last giveaway:

If you have boys, you know how incredibly hard it is to find cute clothes for them. It's impossible to find a good selection of clothes anywhere you go, especially ones that actually fit. I mean, yes, JC Penny, Sears, and Khols are alright but even they have slim pickings most of the time. I have just learned to settle on the play clothes and get the 3-5 dollar stuff and then I shop online for their good clothes. Now, there is FINALLY a store just for boys!

I recently got a chance to review some of the clothes The Boy's Store offers. Both boys received a full outfit.

Gavin, a long sleeved shirt by Dogwood and a pair of pants by CR sport.

And Gage got a long sleeved shirt and an adorable pair of corduroy pants both by Mulberribush

Please ignore all the little finger prints in the glass behind them! They find it hilarious to touch it right after I clean it. I'm not amused.

Gavin's pants were a little big (as they always are) but thankfully his came with adjusters. Gage's pants did not have adjusters but he's a chunky little guy so his stayed up! Both shirts fit very well but are just loose enough so there's plenty of growing room in them. All the clothes are excellent quality. When you buy kids clothes, most of the time you can tell they're cheap made. These are not like that at all. They feel sturdy, ya know? Which is what my active little boys need. Their clothes have to be able to take a beating (and a few mud puddles as well).

Want to win $25 worth of awesome clothes for your little dude? Here's what you need to do:

For the first entry (you know the rest won't count if this one's not done), head on over to The Boy's Store and tell me something you like and who you'll be buying for. It doesn't matter who, son, nephew, brother, friends boy, the little guy in your life.

Life's Truths for Mature Adults

I got this email and it made me giggle so I wanted to share it. Hope it makes you giggle too. I think what makes it so funny is that it's all SO TRUE!

Life's Truths for Mature Adults

1. I think part of a best friend's job should be to immediately clear your computer history if you die.

2. Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.

3. I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger.

4. There is great need for a sarcasm font.

5. Really, how ARE you supposed to fold a fitted sheet?

6. Was learning cursive really necessary?

7. Map Quest really needs to start their directions on # 5. I'm pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.

8. Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the person died.

9. I can't remember the last time I wasn't at least kind of tired.

10. Bad decisions make good stories.

11. You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you know that you just aren't going to do anything productive for the rest of the day.

12. Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after Blue Ray? I don't want to have to restart my collection...again.

13. I'm always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten-page technical report that I swear I did not make any changes to.

14. "Do not machine wash or tumble dry" means I will never wash this - ever.

15. I hate when I just miss a call by the last ring (Hello? Hello? Crap!), but when I immediately call back, it rings nine times and goes to voice mail. What did you do after I didn't answer? Drop the phone and run away?

16. I hate leaving my house confident and looking good and then not seeing anyone of importance the entire day. What a waste.

17. I keep some people's phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call.

18. I think the freezer deserves a light as well.

19. I disagree with Kay Jewelers. I would bet on any given Friday or Saturday night more kisses begin with Miller Lite than Kay.

20. I wish Google Maps had an "Avoid Ghetto" routing option.

21. Sometimes, I'll watch a movie that I watched when I was younger and suddenly realize I had no idea what the heck was going on when I first saw it.

22. I would rather try to carry 10 over-loaded plastic bags in each hand than take 2 trips to bring my groceries in.

23. The only time I look forward to a red light is when I'm trying to
finish a text.

24. I have a hard time deciphering the fine line between boredom and
hunger.

25. How many times is it appropriate to say "What?" before you just nod and smile because you still didn't hear or understand a word they said?

26. I love the sense of camaraderie when an entire line of cars team up to prevent a jerk from cutting in at the front. Stay strong, brothers and sisters!

27. Shirts get dirty. Underwear gets dirty. Pants? Pants never get dirty, and you can wear them forever.

28. Is it just me or do high school kids get dumber & dumber every year?

29. There's no worse feeling than that millisecond you're sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far.

30. As a driver I hate pedestrians, and as a pedestrian I hate drivers, but no matter what the mode of transportation, I always hate bicyclists.

31. Sometimes I'll look down at my watch 3 consecutive times and still not know what time it is.

32. Even under ideal conditions people have trouble locating their car keys in a pocket, finding their cell phone, and Pinning the Tail on the Donkey - but I'll bet everyone can find and push the snooze button from3 feet away, in about 1.7 seconds, eyes closed, first time, every time.

Ever have one of those days?

Do you ever have one of those days where you just feel moody? One of those days where you're angry for no apparent reason? Where nothing is going wrong but you're in a bad mood anyway and you don't know why? I'm having one of those days. Usually the reasons are either PMS or being pregnant but I'm neither of those right now (at least that I know of)

It's not the kids, they're actually being very good today. They seem to be the only ones keeping me sane at the moment. Hubs hasn't done anything that's made me mad... well, this time!  I'm tired but I'm used to that. I have a ton of stuff to do but that's nothing new. Nope, everything's going as it should here today and I'm still annoyed and irritated. At what? I have no idea, haha.

I've been known to annoy people with my perkiness. I'm not usually a moody person.  This is a weird feeling for me. I could seriously use a punching bag today.

Anyway, I'm done with my whining. Sorry for that, just had to get it out. I thought it would help. It didn't.

Gavin's first soccer practice

I know it's been over 3 weeks since Gavin started soccer but I'm just now getting time to post the pictures and video! I know, I know, Mama's slacking.

The coach gave Gavin his hat. I don't know why though, it kept falling over his eyes and he couldn't see!

 Aren't they cute?

 Poor guy was exhausted

Hee hee, I'm a soccer mom now. I feel proud of that title! All I need now is a minivan... oh well, the Jeep will have to do. Oh, and I did finally find a cute pair of soccer cleats on ebay to fit him. I mean, he does only have another month left and he'll probably outgrow them by spring season but they match his uniform and all the other kids have them (I know, I'm that kind of mom. And how old am I again? I just realized how immature that sounded!)

The next 2 are me just playing around with editing.
I was trying to cover up the old guys crotch but it doesn't seem to help! I tried cropping it but it didn't look right.

I leave you with video of his very first time on a soccer field. EVER!
He has been practicing and is a little better. He sometimes goes in
the right direction now!

Charismatic Kid: The New Breed of Superhero, Book review

I recently had the opportunity to review this wonderful new book by Anthony Recenello (Most of you, including me, know him as @charismatickid on twitter). The book is titled Charismatic Kid, The new breed of Superhero. It will be released tomorrow, September 10th.

I have to admit, the first thing that drew me in was the super cute cover. I mean, look at that adorable child. I smile every time I see it!

On to the book... I've read a few parenting books and they were helpful but honestly? They were boring. It took me forever to get through them because it all sounds like a textbook to me. And I get bored very easily. I can't count the number of hairstyles and colors I've went through just from boredom. I'd wake up one day and think, hmm, I think I'm gonna chop 10 inches off my hair, dye it bright red and spike it! Ok, that was way off topic but the point is, I did not get bored at all reading this book. Anthony mixes humor,  knowledge and personal stories from his experiences in his writing. He words things in such a way that it is easy for anyone to understand (even me, a mom with way too little sleep and a wandering mind!). One minute I was laughing and was inspired the next. I know it sounds cheesy and totally geeky of me but from all the lessons I learned in this book, it seemed like it was written just for me! It not only helped me with parenting but with me personally as well. Most of you probably don't know this but I'm incredibly shy so it taught me a lot.

There is a part in the book that talks about hyper children. And if you know anything from this blog, it's that Gavin is a tiny little tornado of energy. He is very outgoing and likable but a lot of times, he gets so excited and talks so fast when meeting new people, they can't understand what he's saying! This part of the book was a God send. Seriously!

I have a ton of favorite parts from the book but if I shared them all, there would be no reason for you to buy the book would there? :)

Here is an excerpt that really helped me understand what my hyper child feels like and why he does the crazy things he does:

After working with children for over half a decade, I have a better grasp on the real issue. Children are little balls of energy. They get a ton of sleep, and have a lot of steam to burn off with their little bodies. When you try to subdue an excited child, his energy bottles up even more. And what happens to something bubbly and active when it becomes more and more bottled up? Eventually, it bursts. This leads to expending energy in undesirable ways: maybe lashing out at other kids, screaming in public, interrupting others, hitting, running into people, or throwing things.

I know how a kid feels when his energy is bottled up, eventually when it’s released, it comes out all at once from twenty to forty-five minute intervals. Think of a normal child that is able to disperse his
energy regularly throughout the day. It is rationed, so it comes out at a even level and doesn’t get out of hand. But a hyperactive child is told to hold that energy back, and so he will release it in random spurts when he can’t contain himself any longer."

I know it sounds simple but I had never thought of it in that way. I had been trying to make him hold all that energy in. I was actually making it worse!

And now one of my favorite quotes from the book. (I'm not entirely sure why but I love it!):

"Let your inner calmness subdue the storm."

I'll leave you with that quote and tell you to give "Charismatic Kid: The New Breed of Superhero" a shot. I've never read anything like it before. I know you'll learn something and be entertained while you do! Go. Check it out. Well not now silly, it doesn't come out until tommorow but then. Definately then. I promise you'll like it and I wouldn't lie to you.

My 4yo, The Fibber

GASP. My son just tried to pull a fast one on me. I know Gavin is old enough to tell lies, or 'fibs' if you will. But the little guy is getting downright sneaky about them now!

Today, I ask him what he wants for lunch. He says "Maybe cereal, or ice cream or somethin'. Ice cream. I think so. I'm hot." I was like yeah right little dude. Food first, then ice cream. So I settle on cheese pizza (which I KNOW he will eat). I take 1 piece (of Papa Johns pizza) and cut it in half, giving Gavin the front part (he doesn't like the crust) and Gage the rest (he'll eat anything). I leave the room for a few minutes and he runs to me and says, like he's SOOOO proud of himself, "Mama, I ate all my pizza." He didn't even mention the ice cream I'd promised (this is how good he is) but I was proud of him for eating all his food so I go to see if Gage is finished eating so they could both get some ice cream.

I look down at Gavins plate and notice he had the crust off the pizza in his plate. Now normally I'd have thought Gage just put it there when he'd gotten finished BUT, I look over and Gage is still eating. How is that possible? Gage had the part with the crust right? If that's the case, and the crust is lying in GAVIN'S plate, why is Gage still eating. One would assume he had finished his half right? Oh yes. My sneaky little guy took advantage of his little bro's never-ending appetite, let him finish his food, putting the crust in his plate making it appear to the untrained eye that he'd eaten ALL of his food therefore making him eligible for the the said ice cream.

How you make me laugh, my sneaky little guy. You're no match for me though, my little one. Oh no. Mommy's not dumb. Your plan was good, but you made some mistakes. One being trusting your brother wouldn't tell. When I was asking him if he fibbed, Gage held out the pizza and said in a sweet voice, here's your pizza bubba, you want it? Muahahaha, the young one turned on you didn't he? Don't mess with the mama boy, you'll get burned every time!

Oh by the way, he did get his ice cream. I gave in  because that was a really good one on his part. He really thought he'd gotten away with it! He tried. He failed.... but he tried nonetheless. He made me laugh so he deserved the ice cream. Next time I'll stick to it and wont give in. Next time definitely. Heh.

Happy Birthday to me!

Today I turn 26! I told Gavin last night that today was my birthday and what I wanted for my present was to get a lot of kisses from him. As soon as we got up this morning, he kissed me all over my face and said, "Happy birthday mommy!" I can't think of a better present than that. It made my whole day! Hubby bought me a Wii and the Wii fit plus last week for my present. My mom gave me $50 which we put toward the Wii. I love it by the way! I haven't gotten to use it as much as I'd like though. The kids are mostly on it and by the time they go to bed, I'm too worn out to exercise.

Anyway, since it's my birthday, I thought I'd share a few baby pics of myself. I was one chunky little baby! It's weird looking back at them. In some of the pictures I can definitely tell the boys look a little bit like me.

Hehe, I was so fat

I'm so proud of my boy

The innocence and honesty of kids never ceases to amaze me. Nor their brilliant little minds. I can't believe how smart children are. They can figure out and notice things way more often than we adults give them credit for. Gavin is such an amazing little boy. He is quite sensitive and is so aware of... well, everything! He recently has been very aware of the environment and the things we do to harm it. I'm not really sure where it comes from. If it's from seeing it on TV or learning it from me (but I don't really drill him on this stuff. I just answer the questions he asks)? I have no idea but I gotta tell you I'm one proud mama!

So today Gavin was watching Yo Gabba Gabba and they were talking and singing about taking care of the earth and keeping it clean. I wasn't paying it any attention, I was in the kitchen when he comes up to me and says "Mama, you know who else keeps the world clean?" I said who, and he says in a very sweet voice "You do mama, and so do I!"

A little while later he comes to me again and looks a little confused. He says, "When the smoke goes in the air, the clouds get sick." I tell him yes it does. He tilts his head, still confused and says, "When we drive our car, it makes the clouds sick. But we have to drive our car places, but it makes the clouds sick when we do." I thought, wow, he is SO smart. He's making these connections at only 4 years old! I try to explain the best I could (which is kind of weak. I am ashamed I couldn't come up with a better answer for him) I said, "Well, you're right. When you drive a lot it makes the clouds sick but we don't drive a lot so it's ok." Which it really isn't. It made me seriously think about the things we do as a family that affects the environment.

Now, I'm not a hard core environmentalist in the least. I use paper towels, not a lot but I do. I have never thought twice about jumping in the car to go somewhere. I have even, don't tear me apart for this, used paper plates and cups. I recycle some but not everything. But he got me to thinking, if he is concerned about this being as young as he is, why aren't I? I mean, I know we can't walk anywhere. We don't live close to any store. There is no bus stop around for at least 5 miles. But I could be doing so much more. I'm just not sure what. I wrote another post about the few things I do here. What else do you think I should do?

We have a new car

Well, not exactly new but it's a 2004 Jeep Liberty. His grandma bought a new Subaru and gave us her Jeep. They do weird things like that. It's very nice of them, which is the weird part! They did the same thing with 2 other cars. They just buy a new car and instead of trading in the old one, they give it to hubs.

Honestly, I don't particularly love the car. I do love Jeep but the liberty isn't really my style but right now I drive a Kia Rio and it's TINY so the extra room will be great. I don't really like the way the body style looks but hey, it's free and I'll take it! Hubby's gone right now getting the title work and everything done. He sold his Blazer earlier today so as of whenever he gets back, it's ours :)

This is pretty much what it looks like (This isn't ours, just one I found online) :

Ok, now that I've told you about it, it just hit me that we have a new car. SQEEEEE! *insert goofy happy dance here*

Here's a video of Gage singing "Boom Boom Pow" by the Black Eyed Peas.
I think his face is the best part, he's so hilarious!

Ignore this post!

Hey I'm just testing something out... don't mind me! Nothing to see here :)

Embarrasment

Have you ever had one of those moments where someone unexpected drops by and you're completely unprepared? Yeah, I had one of those this morning.

Let me start by going back to last night... I really meant to take a shower. I did. I just got busy doing other things and forgot. Then Hubs came home from work at 11:30. We watched tv together for a bit and then, ahem, stayed up until 1 or 1:30. Which usually happens and is ok with me. I don't get to see him often so it's nice to spend "quality" time together whenever possible. I don't mind the late nights at all! That is, if the kids sleep all night.

At about 4am Gavin comes to bed with us, which he usually does. He's been doing that almost every night since he could walk! Now, you would think a queen size bed would be big enough for the 3 of us right? Nope. He's a wriggler. Anyhow now when he sleeps with us (I keep an extra pillow at the end of the bed) I just put him in my spot and sleep upside down in the bed. It's much more comfortable and I'm usually the one that gets stuck in the middle and it's way too hot for that right now. Sorry my boys, mama's not snuggling when it's 90 degrees!

Anyway I got off track there. Gavin for some reason had a terrible time sleeping so he is tossing and turning until 6:30. I know we should've just gotten up but I was exhausted after only 2.5 hrs of sleep. So I just doze off when Gage gets up at 7! He's not going back to sleep so we get up, I fix him some juice and we cuddle on the couch and watch some cartoons.

At about 8 I hear the doorbell ring. I'm thinking 'oh no, who could that be?' I run into the bedroom to find some kind of shorts to put on (I was only wearing a shirt!) I peep outside and see my neighbor, looking fabulous like she always does! I barely crack the door open so she doesn't get a good look at me. I desperately need a shower, I'm wearing one of hubbys old wife beater shirts (no bra mind you), My eye are swollen from lack of sleep, I swear I must have looked like something right out of a horror movie! I was mortified. I usually don't look that bad, I promise! I had just had a rough night.

She tells me that she's late for work, her car won't start and she needs some jumper cables. I tell her I'd get hubby up and send him over. Well it turns out that my hubby, who loves working on cars, is a great mechanic (that's not what he does for a living but he's great at it!) doesn't have any jumper cables. I'm like What The Heck? What kind of man that builds a sports car from the ground up, that can fix anything car related doesn't have jumper cables? I thought everyone was supposed to have a set. So he's refusing to get out of bed so I have to throw my hair up, grab a gray tank top (I did remember to put a bra on!) pick Gage up (at least I remembered him too) and slide on some blue flip flops while going out the door to tell her we didn't have any jumper cables.

Note: I have no idea why we haven't exchanged phone numbers so I could call her but we just haven't yet.

On my way to her house I look down and notice that I'm wearing a gray tank top, pink shorts, and blue flip flops. Oh, and deodorant and teeth brushed? You can forget about that. I mean, I haven't looked this bad in forever! I literally just rolled out of bed, made a sippy cup, turned on cartoons, and fell up on the couch. GREAT. What is my very well dressed and Diva looking neighbor going to think? I mean this woman has a daughter that is around 16 and the first time I saw them, I thought they were sisters! She is always looking like perfection. Even when hubby had to go help her start her lawnmower and she was getting ready to mow she looked fabulous! Her hair was done, makeup on. She was actually wearing sunglasses at 8 o'clock this morning! I have never seen her anything less than perfect. She's super nice by the way which made me feel that much worse.

I figure it's too late to turn back now so I head on over and tell her that I was sorry but we didn't have any. She was very polite about it and I recommended the only other neighbor I knew. As we were walking down her driveway, I was a little ahead of her and saw her look down at my pink shorts and blue shoes, I thought I was going to die! She of course didn't say anything and we walked back to the house. Now it seems hilarious that I worried that much over how I looked but at the time I was SO embarrassed!

Have you ever had one of those moments? Please share your embarrassing stories with me :) (It'll make me feel better!)

Please help the Emerson family get on Extreme Makeover Home Edition

There is a family that lives in my area that are truly the most deserving of a new house than anyone I could think of. Everyone is trying to get them on Extreme Makeover Home Edition. We could really use your help. Whether you know them or not, this family has been through so much. I wish all of you had the opportunity to meet Amber. She is so wonderful, sweet and inspiring. Here is her story from their facebook page:

ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is casting for deserving families in North Carolina and the Emerson Family, of Madison County, is the right family to win this! With a family of four and several animals - space is not the only factor in their eligibility to deserve a new home! Among the four is a beautiful eight year old girl, who is an inspiration to all for her survival story. At only the age of 10 months, she was in a freak accident causing over 90% to be burned, scarred, and graphed. She is among the youngest and most severe burn survivors, to this day, worldwide. Three years post burn, one of her primary caregivers, her father Dave was diagnosed with stage one emphysema and while still knowing that wasn't all - he was also diagnosed with Muscular Sclerosis a year later. This family has pulled and stuck together, stayed strong in their faith, and maintained a so called "normal" life. With those two personal stories, there are also several material reasons they are more than deserving of a new home! Amber has prosthetic legs, a power wheel chair, and a manual wheel chair and as residents of NC we all know the land is all but flat in our region. Mobility for the two has been affected greatly due to the uneven terrain, steps, and doorways. Also, unfinished ramps and walkways. There are many modifications that are not only necessary, but are left incomplete due to lack of time, funds, and physical energy. We created this group to ask for your help (to be nominated), your support, and your prayers. If you would like, please feel free to add personal stories of your encounters with the Emerson family - and also any reasons you think they should receive the home makeover as well.

Amber and her sister Grace
Her family does SO much to give her a normal, happy life. She was in my niece's dance class several years ago and to see her in her wheelchair up on that stage dancing and smiling was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen! I know almost all of my followers don't know this family, but I wish you did! Please go check out their facebook page and see for yourself why they need this. There are pictures of the house on there that shows the need they have and there's also pictures of beautiful little Amber on there as well. Please help if you will.
We need as many people as possible to help get Extreme Makeover's attention. You can send an email to castingnorthcarolina@gmail.com, Post why you think the Emerson's deserve this makeover on the Extreme Makeover, home edition's facebook page and there are also some posts on the discussions page of the page too.

Did he just say that to me???

This was just too cute not to post! Gage is in the process of potty training. I say "in the process" because he knows when he dirties his diaper and he could use the potty... if he really wanted to. So I've been telling him after he wets or poops in a diaper that he needed to do that in the potty.

Just a few minutes ago, he came up to me and said "I pooped, I pooped" so I look down at him and asked him why he didn't go potty. If he can tell me after he's pooped, he should be able to go potty. He looks at me with a completely serious face, puts one finger on my mouth like he's trying to shush me and says, "Mama... I NOT go potty." He was so serious which of course made it all the more hilarious!!! I laughed until I almost cried. Oh my little guy, you slay me!

Our newest additon to the family

We have a new addition to the family! It's another boy. I'm so outnumbered here but maybe this will sedate my baby craving!

My cousin gave my mom a kitten he'd gotten from some woman. She told him that she had to take them all to the pound. She had 3 left so he saved one. He took it to my moms and gave it to her and she said she'd give it to Gage for his birthday. My cousin called me to make sure Gage could have it. We'd been thinking about getting one for a couple months anyway so it seemed like the right time.

My cousin did say he was a bit early. Only 4 weeks but he plays like an 8 week old! He follows Gavin and Gage around. It's so cute the way he runs after Gage. He kind of hops instead of running! Neither one of the boys will sit still and hold him. He tries to get in Gavins lap but he's always been afraid of animals so he jumps up and runs but he likes to pet him and give him kisses.

I forgot how hard it is to litterbox train! Saturday night he peed and pooped on me in the bed! He stays in the bathroom now at night.

We have had a hard time coming up with a name for the little guy. We kept asking Gage what kitty's name was and he'd say "KITTY!" Gavin said William once because that's what he named his teddy bear he sleeps with. I love the name Oliver but that's a name I picked out when I finally get my dream dog. An English Bulldog. Isn't that cute? A bulldog named Oliver!? Haven't gotten Hubby on board though. Most of those are between $500 and $2,000.

So last night, we asked the boys again what they wanted to name him and out of the blue, Gavin came up with (I have no idea how to spell this!)... Ogberd, Ogbourd, Ogburd, well, anyhow he says it Og-Bird. (If you know of a good way to spell it let me know!) As soon as he said it, Gage said, Ogberd, Ogberd. Hubby looked at me with raised eyebrows and said 'I... guess that's it' Gavin said 'Well, Ogberd it is!' Hubby said 'Ok, Ogberd it is.' I was kind of speechless the entire time but both boys like it so poor kitty is Ogberd now. Where did he get that name??? It was so random! But we said they could choose and that's what they chose... poor poor kitty!

Anyway so introducing Ogberd, Ogbird, Ogbyrd.... whatever his name is...

The Boys Store Gift Card Giveaway

If you have boys, you know how incredibly hard it is to find cute clothes for them. It's impossible to find a good selection of clothes anywhere you go, especially ones that actually fit. I mean, yes, JC Penny, Sears, and Khols are alright but even they have slim pickings most of the time. I have just learned to settle on the play clothes and get the 3-5 dollar stuff and then I shop online for their good clothes. That's why I'm so thrilled to share this giveaway with you!

There is FINALLY a store just for boys. A store that has all sizes and everything is so boyish and adorable. Anything you need for your little man, The Boy's Store has got it!(That's a cheesy line I know but it's true!)

I knew I wanted to give away a gift card, something everyone could use. I had a really hard time picking a place when I was contacted by Suzanne. I had contacted her earlier to do a review and giveaway but she was completely booked so she mentioned the gift card thing. I thought that was a great idea so I bought a $20 card. She was so amazing and wonderful that instead of giving me just $20, she sent 2 $25 gift cards! I can't thank her enough for helping me out on pretty short notice. I know, I know, I should have started sooner but I got sidetracked and forgot until it was too late to get sponsors! Sooo... that means TWO lucky readers will win a gift card to the boys store. Oh, and we now have a review and giveaway set up so I will be doing one at a later date!

Ok, to win $25 worth of awesome clothes for your little dude here's what you need to do:

For the first entry (you know the rest won't count if this one's not done), head on over to The Boy's Store and tell me something you like and who you'll be buying for. It doesn't matter who, son, nephew, brother, friends boy, the little guy in your life.

Crunchy Clean detergent giveaway

Crunchy Clean is a wonderful company that makes safe, environmentally friendly, yummy scented laundry detergent. They have both cloth diaper detergent and regular laundry detergent for everyday use. It comes in a super cute, recyclable, recloseable bag.

I wash diapers about every other day. Sometimes I can get away with an extra day. Sometimes. I don't use near as many cloth diapers as I did a few months ago. I guess it's from Gage getting older and he's now able to hold it a bit longer so I don't have to change him as often. I bought a regular size bag of Crunchy Clean right before Christmas (I got an awesome Christmas tree scent) and I STILL have about a 1/4 of a bag left! I'm thinking that's a great thing but it makes me wonder if I'm washing often enough because I never thought it would last this long!

The very generous folks at Crunchy Clean is offering one of my readers a regular sized bag of detergent in their choice of scent. All the scents are perfectly ok to use with cloth diapers. I've been using it 5 months and have never had a problem. The only scent I've tried is the Christmas Tree and it's a seasonal thing so I'm a bit jealous because all of the scents sound so yummy! I want to try Baby Bee, Clothespin, and Baby Essential oil blend. Oh and of course I'm gonna have to try out Monkey Fart. That'll be the next one I get!

-Monkey Fart ---- fresh bananas and juicy grapefruit, middle notes of kiwi, juicy bubblegum, and strawberries; and a hint of vanilla
-Pink Sugar ---- fruity blend of cotton candy, lemon drops, caramel and raspberry jam
-Baby Bee ---- luscious fruits such as peaches, mandarin oranges, coconut pulp, bergamot, grapefruit, tropical guava, and tangy lemons
-Baby Bee Clean ---- citrus, honey floral with notes of toffee
-Clothespin ---- clean cotton just dried in a summer breeze
-Unscented
-Vanilla Lavender Essential Oil Blend
-Baby Essential Oil Blend ---- calming blend of essential oils for both mama and baby - lavender, chamomile, ylang ylang, orange, bergamot
-Orange Essential Oil
-Peppermint Essential Oil

And these are just the in-stock scents. They have a ton of other fabulous scents, check them all out here.

Now here's how you can win! Of course, if you just can't wait that long, go ahead and buy yourself a bag! It's very affordable compared to some other detergents out there and I'm telling you, It will last a long time! It does about 80 loads for a regular machine and 160 for a high efficiency washer.

For your first entry, go look around the site and tell me which scent you would pick if you won. Remember, this is mandatory and the other entries will not count if this one's not done first

All the ways I love you giveaway

We love books here. I read to the boys all the time and they love to come in the library and look at all their books. Gavin has even started 'reading' to Gage. He can't read yet but he knows from memorization most of the words and sometimes he makes up his own stories by looking at the pictures.

So to celebrate their birthdays, I knew I wanted to do some kind of book giveaway. I went shopping on Friday and found this little pop-up board book. It's so adorable!

It has Baby animals with their mamas that pop-up when you turn the page and says the things that mama does for the babies (another reason I wanted to get it for the giveaway since Mothers Day was yesterday).

The first page in the book says, 'Baby Giraffe asks Mama, "Do you love me a lot?" And his mama answers, "I love your every last spot!"

Now how to win this sweet book:

For your first entry, tell me what is your or your childs favorite book? Mine is The Giving Tree and the kids' is Green eggs and ham and There's a Wocket in my Pocket. You must do this one first or the other entries will not count.

Extra entries:

Pictures over the past 4 years

My sweet little Gavin, you've grown up so fast. You make me laugh more than anyone else can. You are the smartest, most energetic, talkative little guy I know. I love you so much bubba, I hope you always know that.

I set this post to automatically post at 9:24 AM on May 9th, 2010. That means exactly 4 years ago you came into this world and made me a mommy. It just so happens that today is also Mothers Day. I can't think of any better Mothers Day gift than celebrating my wonderful boys 4th birthday!

Here are some of my favorite pictures of you over the past 4 years:
