So anyway finally got him to do it today. Here's what we do... all will be quiet, we're driving home from school with the radio on and I randomly scream out "DANCE PARTY!!!" then everyone in the car has to dance. When I yell "Dance Party's over" we all stop, take a break then do it all over again. We were getting pretty wild today, I'm not gonna lie! I really hope I'm not the only crazy person that does this but if I am... now you know about it and you should totally try it. Tons of fun and the kiddies LOVE it!

My car is still dirty
It's sooo warm today. 74 to be exact so I thought I would take the boys outside while I cleaned out my car. Well I tried cleaning the car anyway. That counts for something right? Heh.
Within the first 20 min I had to pump up the tires on 2 bicycles, the boys fought over the bicycles. Gage cried. He wrecked one of them. Cried. He fell over something (i dont know what), hurt his finger. Cried. Walked right into the open car door. Cried. Fell out of a chair trying to climb a tree. Guess what? He cried. I gave up & we fed the fish instead. Now he's asleep :)
I did get a few pictures before he got mad at me because I wouldn't let him fill up a bucket with pond water so he threw said bucket INTO the pond. That was fun trying to fish it back out. Oh and I haven't seen the duck in about a week guess he found a girlfriend and flew the coop. Or he got eaten like the last one :(
Here's the pictures I got along with a few from yesterday. Happy Spring to you all!

Date night!
Me and hubby have a date night planned for this weekend. I'm so excited because it's been forever since we've been alone. Together. For a whole day. (I can't even remember what that's like!) BUT today he had the nerve to suggest that since it's going to be warm this weekend that we keep the kids at home and work outside. I DON'T THINK SO! We never get time alone so kids are going to mamaws, I'm buying a new pair of shoes, we're going hiking (hopefully the somewhere on the parkway but anwhere will do as long as we're outside) and then to a movie and dinner. I stay at home and work everyday. NOT doing it this weekend. The yard can wait till next weekend. I promise.
And yes, I'm buying a brand new pair of shoes just to get dirty hiking in them. I don't own a pair of good walking shoes anymore. My shoe collection consists of super cute boots, heels, and the good ole flip flops. May need to buy 2 pair then :) I'll use any excuse to buy shoes. Wouldn't you? I think so.

Happy New Year!
I am a terrible mommy. I started 2011 off with a lie. I'm going to feel guilty about this all year. Well, probably not but I do feel bad.
I had been promising the kids all week that they could stay up till midnight and do the New Year thing. They'd never done it before and I thought it was time. We planned on playing candyland and snacking into the wee hours of the night. I made cute little platters with shrimp and homemade cocktail sauce, a veggie and chip platter with dip (I'm so proud of them though. They didn't touch the chips but I had to fill it up with carrots twice. They actually like veggies!) I did the whole deal wanting it to be special.
Didn't happen. They ate some carrots. Hubby passed out on the couch (He went to work that morning at 3am so he was exhausted). The kids were starting to get cranky. Especially Gage, he was up the night before from 3-5:30. And then I had an idea. They can't tell time. They have no idea it's not midnight yet. Gavin had been asking for the past 3 hrs if it was New Years time yet. Would it be so bad if I pretended it was midnight? Hmmm. I thought on it for an hour and then Gavin asked if it was time yet. Now he's a smart guy so I couldn't just say yes and that would be it. He'd see right through that. So I said we have 3 more minutes. We did a fake countdown and at exactly 8:00pm we jumped up and yelled 'HAPPY NEW YEAR!' I feel bad I really do.
Anyway, we scared hubby awake and he asked if it was really midnight. I said 'Yep'. He says 'No it isn't'. (Lol, poor guy.) I said, 'Yes. It is.' *wink wink*. He said 'Ohhhh, Happy New Year guys!' Both boys gave me their first kiss of the year (Haha. ME. Not daddy. That made me feel good!) And they went to bed happy. They had no idea but I know what I did and I still feel bad. I almost got caught though. As I was putting Gavin to bed he says 'Mama, we didn't get to see the ball drop.' (shoot) I told him we missed it because daddy was watching something else on TV. He was satisfied and said maybe we could watch it in the morning. I DVR'd the last 4 min. so he could watch it.
Hubby went back to sleep and I spent New Years Eve alone. And my first kiss of the year? Well I wasn't thinking about it because I was alone but I heard some fireworks going off downtown so I went outside to see if I could see them (It was too cloudy). I picked the cat up so he wouldn't run outside and by habit kissed him on the top of the head. Yep, Ogberd the evil kitten was my New Years kiss. I don't even like him that much. So my New Years Eve party was a flop but I woke up this morning both boys were snuggled up in bed with me. Hubby was still on the couch, lol. He never woke up. He must have been really tired! He didn't even wake up whe somebody in the neighborhood was shooting off some sort of fireworks. To me it sounded like bottle rockets in a metal can. I have no idea but it was annoying. And loud.
I did make 1 New Years resolution but I don't know if I want to tell anyone else about it! I've told I think 4 people and they all say I'm crazy and it'll never happen. That's why I made it. To challenge myself. I have until my birthday, mid July, to accomplish it so it's possible. It's ridiculous and far fetched but I guess if I tell you all about it then I will try harder... Ok, here goes. I will have a 6-pack by my birthday. I know. Crazy right? Losing weight. Fine. But a 6-pack? Yep. I was in great shape when I met my husband. Yes I was 16 and that was 10 years ago but still. I used to do 600 crunches every night. I don't think I can do that now. My challenge is that I have this arthritis to deal with. Which is hard on my back and hips. Probably not going to be able to do many crunches. I'm going to try my best though. Hubby thinks I'm insane but he's on board with the eating healthier and working out part so I'll have support. Wonder if I should challeng him to see who can do it faster? Nah, he'd win hands down. When we met he was like 4% body fat. He knows how to buff up from his wrestling days. I don't need to loose much weight really. I'm not worried about that. Just toning. And if I drop a few pounds along the way great! I'll post more as I go along. I might even do before and after pics. We'll see! Wish me luck. And feel free to make fun of me. Everyone else has! Or join me. That would be even better! Happy New Year. Here's to a fantastic 2011!

Life's Truths for Mature Adults
I got this email and it made me giggle so I wanted to share it. Hope it makes you giggle too. I think what makes it so funny is that it's all SO TRUE!
Life's Truths for Mature Adults
1. I think part of a best friend's job should be to immediately clear your computer history if you die.
2. Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.
3. I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger.
4. There is great need for a sarcasm font.
5. Really, how ARE you supposed to fold a fitted sheet?
6. Was learning cursive really necessary?
7. Map Quest really needs to start their directions on # 5. I'm pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.
8. Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the person died.
9. I can't remember the last time I wasn't at least kind of tired.
10. Bad decisions make good stories.
11. You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you know that you just aren't going to do anything productive for the rest of the day.
12. Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after Blue Ray? I don't want to have to restart my collection...again.
13. I'm always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten-page technical report that I swear I did not make any changes to.
14. "Do not machine wash or tumble dry" means I will never wash this - ever.
15. I hate when I just miss a call by the last ring (Hello? Hello? Crap!), but when I immediately call back, it rings nine times and goes to voice mail. What did you do after I didn't answer? Drop the phone and run away?
16. I hate leaving my house confident and looking good and then not seeing anyone of importance the entire day. What a waste.
17. I keep some people's phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call.
18. I think the freezer deserves a light as well.
19. I disagree with Kay Jewelers. I would bet on any given Friday or Saturday night more kisses begin with Miller Lite than Kay.
20. I wish Google Maps had an "Avoid Ghetto" routing option.
21. Sometimes, I'll watch a movie that I watched when I was younger and suddenly realize I had no idea what the heck was going on when I first saw it.
22. I would rather try to carry 10 over-loaded plastic bags in each hand than take 2 trips to bring my groceries in.
23. The only time I look forward to a red light is when I'm trying to
finish a text.
24. I have a hard time deciphering the fine line between boredom and
hunger.
25. How many times is it appropriate to say "What?" before you just nod and smile because you still didn't hear or understand a word they said?
26. I love the sense of camaraderie when an entire line of cars team up to prevent a jerk from cutting in at the front. Stay strong, brothers and sisters!
27. Shirts get dirty. Underwear gets dirty. Pants? Pants never get dirty, and you can wear them forever.
28. Is it just me or do high school kids get dumber & dumber every year?
29. There's no worse feeling than that millisecond you're sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far.
30. As a driver I hate pedestrians, and as a pedestrian I hate drivers, but no matter what the mode of transportation, I always hate bicyclists.
31. Sometimes I'll look down at my watch 3 consecutive times and still not know what time it is.
32. Even under ideal conditions people have trouble locating their car keys in a pocket, finding their cell phone, and Pinning the Tail on the Donkey - but I'll bet everyone can find and push the snooze button from3 feet away, in about 1.7 seconds, eyes closed, first time, every time.

My 4yo, The Fibber
GASP. My son just tried to pull a fast one on me. I know Gavin is old enough to tell lies, or 'fibs' if you will. But the little guy is getting downright sneaky about them now!
Today, I ask him what he wants for lunch. He says "Maybe cereal, or ice cream or somethin'. Ice cream. I think so. I'm hot." I was like yeah right little dude. Food first, then ice cream. So I settle on cheese pizza (which I KNOW he will eat). I take 1 piece (of Papa Johns pizza) and cut it in half, giving Gavin the front part (he doesn't like the crust) and Gage the rest (he'll eat anything). I leave the room for a few minutes and he runs to me and says, like he's SOOOO proud of himself, "Mama, I ate all my pizza." He didn't even mention the ice cream I'd promised (this is how good he is) but I was proud of him for eating all his food so I go to see if Gage is finished eating so they could both get some ice cream.
I look down at Gavins plate and notice he had the crust off the pizza in his plate. Now normally I'd have thought Gage just put it there when he'd gotten finished BUT, I look over and Gage is still eating. How is that possible? Gage had the part with the crust right? If that's the case, and the crust is lying in GAVIN'S plate, why is Gage still eating. One would assume he had finished his half right? Oh yes. My sneaky little guy took advantage of his little bro's never-ending appetite, let him finish his food, putting the crust in his plate making it appear to the untrained eye that he'd eaten ALL of his food therefore making him eligible for the the said ice cream.
How you make me laugh, my sneaky little guy. You're no match for me though, my little one. Oh no. Mommy's not dumb. Your plan was good, but you made some mistakes. One being trusting your brother wouldn't tell. When I was asking him if he fibbed, Gage held out the pizza and said in a sweet voice, here's your pizza bubba, you want it? Muahahaha, the young one turned on you didn't he? Don't mess with the mama boy, you'll get burned every time!
Oh by the way, he did get his ice cream. I gave in because that was a really good one on his part. He really thought he'd gotten away with it! He tried. He failed.... but he tried nonetheless. He made me laugh so he deserved the ice cream. Next time I'll stick to it and wont give in. Next time definitely. Heh.

Embarrasment
Have you ever had one of those moments where someone unexpected drops by and you're completely unprepared? Yeah, I had one of those this morning.
Let me start by going back to last night... I really meant to take a shower. I did. I just got busy doing other things and forgot. Then Hubs came home from work at 11:30. We watched tv together for a bit and then, ahem, stayed up until 1 or 1:30. Which usually happens and is ok with me. I don't get to see him often so it's nice to spend "quality" time together whenever possible. I don't mind the late nights at all! That is, if the kids sleep all night.
At about 4am Gavin comes to bed with us, which he usually does. He's been doing that almost every night since he could walk! Now, you would think a queen size bed would be big enough for the 3 of us right? Nope. He's a wriggler. Anyhow now when he sleeps with us (I keep an extra pillow at the end of the bed) I just put him in my spot and sleep upside down in the bed. It's much more comfortable and I'm usually the one that gets stuck in the middle and it's way too hot for that right now. Sorry my boys, mama's not snuggling when it's 90 degrees!
Anyway I got off track there. Gavin for some reason had a terrible time sleeping so he is tossing and turning until 6:30. I know we should've just gotten up but I was exhausted after only 2.5 hrs of sleep. So I just doze off when Gage gets up at 7! He's not going back to sleep so we get up, I fix him some juice and we cuddle on the couch and watch some cartoons.
At about 8 I hear the doorbell ring. I'm thinking 'oh no, who could that be?' I run into the bedroom to find some kind of shorts to put on (I was only wearing a shirt!) I peep outside and see my neighbor, looking fabulous like she always does! I barely crack the door open so she doesn't get a good look at me. I desperately need a shower, I'm wearing one of hubbys old wife beater shirts (no bra mind you), My eye are swollen from lack of sleep, I swear I must have looked like something right out of a horror movie! I was mortified. I usually don't look that bad, I promise! I had just had a rough night.
She tells me that she's late for work, her car won't start and she needs some jumper cables. I tell her I'd get hubby up and send him over. Well it turns out that my hubby, who loves working on cars, is a great mechanic (that's not what he does for a living but he's great at it!) doesn't have any jumper cables. I'm like What The Heck? What kind of man that builds a sports car from the ground up, that can fix anything car related doesn't have jumper cables? I thought everyone was supposed to have a set. So he's refusing to get out of bed so I have to throw my hair up, grab a gray tank top (I did remember to put a bra on!) pick Gage up (at least I remembered him too) and slide on some blue flip flops while going out the door to tell her we didn't have any jumper cables.
Note: I have no idea why we haven't exchanged phone numbers so I could call her but we just haven't yet.
On my way to her house I look down and notice that I'm wearing a gray tank top, pink shorts, and blue flip flops. Oh, and deodorant and teeth brushed? You can forget about that. I mean, I haven't looked this bad in forever! I literally just rolled out of bed, made a sippy cup, turned on cartoons, and fell up on the couch. GREAT. What is my very well dressed and Diva looking neighbor going to think? I mean this woman has a daughter that is around 16 and the first time I saw them, I thought they were sisters! She is always looking like perfection. Even when hubby had to go help her start her lawnmower and she was getting ready to mow she looked fabulous! Her hair was done, makeup on. She was actually wearing sunglasses at 8 o'clock this morning! I have never seen her anything less than perfect. She's super nice by the way which made me feel that much worse.
I figure it's too late to turn back now so I head on over and tell her that I was sorry but we didn't have any. She was very polite about it and I recommended the only other neighbor I knew. As we were walking down her driveway, I was a little ahead of her and saw her look down at my pink shorts and blue shoes, I thought I was going to die! She of course didn't say anything and we walked back to the house. Now it seems hilarious that I worried that much over how I looked but at the time I was SO embarrassed!
Have you ever had one of those moments? Please share your embarrassing stories with me :) (It'll make me feel better!)

Did he just say that to me???
This was just too cute not to post! Gage is in the process of potty training. I say "in the process" because he knows when he dirties his diaper and he could use the potty... if he really wanted to. So I've been telling him after he wets or poops in a diaper that he needed to do that in the potty.
Just a few minutes ago, he came up to me and said "I pooped, I pooped" so I look down at him and asked him why he didn't go potty. If he can tell me after he's pooped, he should be able to go potty. He looks at me with a completely serious face, puts one finger on my mouth like he's trying to shush me and says, "Mama... I NOT go potty." He was so serious which of course made it all the more hilarious!!! I laughed until I almost cried. Oh my little guy, you slay me!

The Shoebox
I got this email from my Sister-in-Law today. I thought it was so cute I had to share it with you all!
The Shoe Box
A man and woman had been married for more than 60 years.
They had shared everything. They had talked about everything.
They had kept no secrets from each other except that the little
Old woman had a shoe box in the top of her closet that she had
Cautioned her husband never to open or ask her about.
For all of these years, he had never thought about the box, but
One day the little old woman got very sick and the doctor said
She would not recover. In trying to sort out their affairs, the little old man took
Down the shoe box and took it to his wife's bedside.
She agreed that it was time that he should know what was
In the box. When he opened it, he found two crocheted dolls
And a stack of money totaling $95,000.
He asked her about the contents.
'When we were to be married,' she said, ' my grandmother told me
The secret of a happy marriage was to never argue. She told me that
If I ever got angry with you, I should just keep quiet and crochet a doll.'
The little old man was so moved; he had to fight back tears. Only two
Precious dolls were in the box. She had only been angry with him two
Times in all those years of living and loving. He almost burst with
Happiness
'Honey,' he said, 'that explains the doll, but what about all of this money?
Where did it come from?'
'Oh,' she said, 'that's the money I made from selling the dolls.'
A Prayer.......Dear Lord, I pray for Wisdom to understand my man; Love to forgive him; And Patience for his moods; Because Lord, if I pray for Strength, I'll beat him to death, Because I don't have time to crochet

I swear I'm not making this up!
I swear on my life I'm not making this up! My husband told me I lied when I told him what Gage, my 19 month old said.
He was eating dinner and talking to himself when I heard him say, one, two, three. That wasn't that big of a deal. I knew he could count to 3. He can even count to 3 in Chinese (Thank you Ni Hao, Kai-Lan!)
So I bent down to his level and went one... he said two... three... I said four... he said five... I said six... then he said seben. (he said it so cute!)
I pretty much freaked out! I didn't think to keep going, I was just amazed that he counted to seven! I ran in the library where hubby was and told him. He asked me if I kept counting with him and I said no I got excited and ran in here! So he says here watch this. He goes in the dining room and tries to get him to say it again. Nope. Every time hubs says a number, Gage holds up a chicken nugget and says EAT!
Hubby looks at me and says, he didn't say it. You're making it up. Why would I make something like that up? I wanted to smack him. As soon as hubby leaves the room, he did it again. Of course he did.
I called my mom to tell her what happened. Then I sit down in front of him with her on the phone and he did it again all the way to 9! Hubby came back in, sat down, and tried yet again to make Gage do it in front of him. Again Gage refused. This time though he stuck his finger in the chicken nugget and holding it up for hubby to see! I told him I had a witness that time though! My mom heard it perfectly! I'm going to try to get it on video next time to share with you all, it was so cute!
I had no idea he could do that! He surprises me every day with the things he does.

Where does he get this stuff?
I haven't written a post in awhile, my blog has been under construction. There is a huge list of stuff I want to blog about but I have to write this one first or I'll forget to.
My crazy, silly, amazingly smart little 3 year old boy. Where do you come up with the things you say? I have NO idea!
I can't understand where he gets the things he says. He says and does things I swear a 3 year old shouldn't say or do.
Here is just 2 examples of his... I don't even know what to call it. Craziness? No, some of the things he says actually make sense (at least to him they do) Silliness? Not really, he seems silly to me but in these 2 examples he was completely serious. He was just making, um, observations. Well, seeing as I don't know what to call it, I'll let you be the judge:
Last night he was watching Cloudy with a chance of meatballs (his new favorite movie, he'd watch it all day long if I let him.) It went off and he suddenly comes up to me and says "It doesn't rain hamburgers... That's not natural." Yes he said That's not natural. How does he know what that means? I am clueless. He was dead serious too. So I tried not to laugh as I said, no honey that's not natural. But on the inside, I was rolling on the floor!
Fast forward to this evening. I was folding laundry in the living room when Gavin says Oh, I have to pee. So he runs off to the potty. (BTW I'm loving the fact that he can go pee by himself now, it's awesome!) I go about my business folding towels when I look up and see Gavin walking toward me with a look of utter amazement on his face. Then he says kinda excitedly "MAMA, the pee comes out of my spray hole!" He pauses and looks down (his pants are already up but he's looking I guess to remember what it looked like? I dunno) then says "It looks like a circle". Now, in the story above, I was able to hold in my laughter somewhat. Tonight that wasn't happening. At first I was a bit shocked like, did he just say that? Then I really comprehend what he said and couple that with the pride on his face from figuring all that out by himself and I lost it. I covered my face and and started rolling with laughter. I couldn't stop. I had tears streaming down my face. I may have even snorted once or twice, I can't remember! He comes over to me with a look of pure innocence and says "what are you laughing at mama?" Which of course makes me laugh even harder. I couldn't stop long enough to tell him why I'm laughing. So he asks again and then again. Finally I control myself long enough to blurt out YOU. He says "you laughing at me?" I say yes and he asks "why are you laughing at me?" I just say (still chucking) because you're so cute! Then he gets that cute, sneaky little smile so I pick him up and say I love you so much, you're so funny.
Oh my Gavin, my sweet, silly Gavin. You really know how to make mommy's day. You say the most outrageous, crazy, silly, sometimes embarrassing things but you make me so happy. I am so blessed to have such a smart, funny little guy. Even when you do something that makes me so mad, I can never stay mad too long because you always know how to make me smile.
And with that I'll leave you one of Gavin's many silly pictures:

Gross lil boys and one tough mama
I knew having 2 boys meant seeing some gross stuff. I mean having a baby or kid in general comes with its own share of disgusting things. Motherhood is definitely not for the faint of heart or those with weak stomachs. It just seems that little boys do more gross things than girls.
Tonight for example, I had just finished making dinner. The boys had pizza and I made gorditas for me & hubby. The boys' food finished first so I went ahead and fed them. Gavin didn't eat much, as usual, a few bites and then got down to play.Gage soon followed.
I finish making our dinner and sit down to eat when I have to get back up to make the boys some chocolate milk. Then I sit back down to try to eat again when they start fighting over something random. I get back up to deal with whatever it was they were fighting over (I can't even remember now what it was). I complain that I never get to eat while the foods warm. NEVER! I take about 3 bites of food when I hear coughing behind me. I didn't think anything of it, hubby's got a cold and both boys have had a runny nose for a day or two. It didn't sound like a bad cough so I ignore it. All of a sudden I hear a strange noise and then hubby, 'Gavin, are you OK? Gavin, are you going to puke?' He didn't even get off the couch but that's another story.
I turn around in time to see Gavin gag. Hubby is done eating by the way. I jump up and say 'Go to the bathroo...' Too late. Hunks of pizza mixed with chocolate milk go shooting across the living room floor. I put my hand over my face, hubby looks at me (still on the couch mind you), I look back at my uneaten dinner and sigh. I get the towels and the mop and go at it like a pro. I clean it all up, wash my hands and go right back to eating. I don't care what anybody says, Mommys are tough. I did just finish the one though. For some reason I didn't really feel like seconds after that ;)
I'd say not even an hour later after that, the boys were playing in my bedroom. Then they got into the bathroom and started making a mess. I ran them out and noticed as Gage passed by, he had something black on his back. (He wasn't wearing a shirt. Another thing about boys- they love to be naked) I thought they'd gotten into a candle in the bathroom. You know, when you blow it out and the tip of the wick turns black. Anyway, I didn't give it a second thought, I let them go play and I would just clean them up later. About 20 minutes go by without incident when Gage walks over to play with hubs. Hubby says 'Uh, honey, look at this.' I'm not even going to go into why I had to look when he was right there. I say, what? He says 'what's that on Gages back?' I said 'I dunno it was there when he come out of the bathroom' he turns Gage around and I see more black than was there before and realize it's coming from his diaper. I say 'Oh nooo.'
That's still not the bad part I promise!
I get a diaper and wipes to change him. When I come back, Gage has his hand down his diaper. I yell "NO" and run to get him. He has jet black poo all over his hands. Up his back. The weirdest thing is... My first thought wasn't eww, it was why is his poop so black? I wasn't as concerned with the mess as the color. Another thing only a mom can do I guess!
I set about the task of cleaning up poop. I start with the hands and oh my goodness. It's all over him. Its even under his fingernails. It's more than halfway up his back. I have no idea how it got that far up. I cleaned him up, changed his clothes, washed my hands (again) and went about my business.
Oh, that entire time, hubby was still on the couch. I do give him credit, in between Gavin throwing up and Gage pooping everywhere, he did move from sitting on one couch to laying on another! Bless him, I really don't expect him to do much. He works third shift and has to try to sleep during the day with the boys running wild but I do find it a little annoying, um, endearing that both of these times, he says go to mama. I really don't mind it though, that's what mommys are for! It's a really good thing I'm not easily grossed out. I guess you could say I'm one tough mama! I'm kinda proud of that. :)
By the way, I realized that the black poo was probably from the Welch's grape juice he'd been drinking. I don't think I'll be buying that again for awhile!
Do you think boys do more gross things than girls or is it all kids? Do you have a gross or funny story? I'd love to hear about it!

The things I did and didn't expect about pregnancy
16 weeks 1 day pregnant
Hi guys my name is Sarah, and I am pregnant with my first child. My Fiancé has a son that will be 6 in December, just before this baby is born. I have been in his life since he was 3yrs old, and love him as if he were my own. By request of my very best friend in the world I’m going to write my first blog post about my pregnancy. I have decided to title it: The things I did and didn’t expect about pregnancy, as I have discovered that along with the beauty of it all, there are some untold secrets they don’t let you in on before the miracle of birth.
The things I did, and didn’t expect about pregnancy
I did expect: that I would get a cute little belly, and as all pregnant women I would glow, with all the radiance of a perfect rose glistening in the morning sunrise
I didn’t expect: that I would get that belly very early, and feel that soon I will no longer be able to see my already swelling feet. And that radiant glow is more like the dull shimmer of the sweat it takes to muster the energy, to throw on a pair of sweats and the most stretchy thing you can find even if it comes form your fiancé’s side of the closet (it’s very attractive I must say ahem)
I did expect: that the first time I felt my baby kick would be the most amazing thing that had ever happened to me
I didn’t expect: to have anything bad to say about it, and I don’t! Every kick is absolutely awesome in every way, and the only thing I can complain about is that I can never feel it often enough (I’m told that later when it is a jab to the ribs I may change my mind on the subject)
I did expect: that considering I was so happy to be pregnant, and that all things around me finally felt complete (in a total metaphoric way considering I have so much to do over the next few months AAHHHH!)
That all the rainbows, bunnies, hugs, and kisses of pregnancy would flow from me, and everyone around me would notice the sweetness of my being…
I didn’t expect: that I would be a raging ball of hormones that would scream obscenities, out my car windows to the likes of which would scar small children and most adults, if your stupidity behind the wheel comes in close vicinity to me (because now you are endangering my child grrrrrr) Or perhaps the rude old lady in the wheel chair behind me at the pharmacy, when I’m trying to get medicine for my ailing fiancés toothache (I don’t want to wait in line either lady CHILL) My fiancé unfortunately has taken quite a bit of it I’m afraid, for one minute I’m giving him the silent treatment because he forgot to take out the trash and, the next I’m sobbing because I “hurt his feelings” which I think for the most part he doesn’t ever really notice he was getting the silent treatment to begin with and now is even more confused as to why I am crying
I did expect: to dream of my child’s future as a dancer on Broadway or the next star soccer player, regardless of what you choose my darling baby mommy will love you, and be your biggest fan
I didn’t expect: to have dreams of my child being born with adult size teeth, or giving birth to a talking 4 yr old hormones cause some strange things to happen while your sleeping, and you get to have multiple dreams while your getting up 5 times a night to pee
I did expect: body changes, some of which I’m quite found of as I just this week bought a bra a cup size larger than I have ever worn, YAY me!
I didn’t expect: the pregnancy gas! Where does that much wind come from, and don’t even try to blame it on the dog (my fiancé was like please honey that little dog did NOT do that) sorry honey! I should have remembered this from my best friends pregnancy, I gave her one accidental courtesy sniff when she was preggo WOW now I understand where it all came from
This is what I have noticed so far, and all being said I love every second of it! I find out what I’m having in 18 days more should follow after that.

Gavins Dr. Visit
Gavin has been complaining that his 'pee pee hurts when he goes potty'. He's been wincing when he pees since last night. I called the Dr. last night which, since it was after-hours, I had to talk to the phone nurse and she just dismissed it saying that it was rare for boys to get UTI's and to wait till morning.
I did and he still said it hurts so I called them back this morning at 9:40am. The morning phone nurse said she needed to see him ASAP and could I be there at 10:15am? I said if I leave now I can. I still had to get Gavin dressed and wake Hubs up to watch Gage. (Which, BTW he was not thrilled to do as he'd only been in for an hour and a half.)
I left the house at 9:50 thinking I can still make it. As soon as I get out of the driveway I hear some cracking, scraping, and popping coming from under my car. I thought 'Oh this is just lovely.' I pull over at a gas station and look under my car fully expecting to see a cat or something hung up underneath my car. Thankfully there wasn't. I said I've gotta get to the doctor on time so I get back on the road and it does it worse. I have to turn around and go back home. I opened the car door to get Gavin out and found that he'd ALREADY peed in his pants (another symptom I was worried about and taking him to the dr. for). I had some more undies and shorts in the car so I changed him right there in the driveway & ran inside to tell my husband that my car is being a turd and to get his car keys. I had to get put a car seat in hubby's car so I had to use Gages (Gavins was soaked with pee). Thankfully Gage is a chunk so the straps are on the same setting.
This is the first time I've driven my hubby's car. I really didn't want to. It's a 90 something Blazer w/ 165,000 miles on it with no rear view mirror. He had the steering wheel adjusted to where it was like driving a school bus. Don't ask me why! I didn't have time to change it so I just suffered through it.
We left this time at 10:05. Yes I was able to do all that in 15 minutes! Including the stop at the gas station checking for small animals under my car!
We booked it to the Dr. (well as fast as the green beast would let me) and still made it there at 10:22! I can now call myself supermom! I was still a little late but the nurse said if I was a few minutes late that would be ok!
We got in there and of course still had to wait 10 min. Which isn't nearly as bad as usual. The boys' doctor is wonderful but unfortunately everyone else thinks so too! They're almost always packed.
Gavin couldn't wait until the nurse called him to do a urine sample. He had to go right then! I had to go ask the receptionist for a cup, which she gladly gave and I figure that probably even saved us a few minutes. He nearly overflowed the cup and peed on my hand. Oh the joys of motherhood! We cleaned up and headed back to the waiting room.
Since it was a last minute appointment we couldn't see the doctor so we had to see the nurse practitioner, who was very nice and wonderful! She did all the weighing and temp. checking and sent us back to the room.
When she came back in, she said that he did have a little bit of blood in his urine but no sign of an infection for me not to worry. She said that him being a little boy, he probably yanked on it a little too hard and possibly busted a blood vessel. That could be the reason it hurts when he pees, she said that it's kind of the same as when you get a scratch and pour alcohol on it and it stings. She told me to tell him not to be so rough on it! That he's just a boy and it's normal for him to play with it. She actually said that to him 'It's just like that car he's playing with, it's a toy for him.' Yes she said that!!! I'm sure I my face was red the entire time!
Anyway the nurse said that she would run culture on it just in case and call me this weekend if it turns up something else. I was really worried about him having a UTI and turns out he's just been playing with it too much!
After we got home and I told hubby what the nurse said, he looked at Gavin and said 'Son be careful with that thing, it's not as tough as you think.' Oh my boys. Sigh.
I hope to God that Gavin never knows about this post. If he only knew the things I tell hundreds of people... he'd hate me forever! ;)
Oh BTW, hubs took Gage for a ride in my car and it popped a couple times then stopped after they backed out of the driveway. He said it was probably just my e-brake was locked up, even though the light wasn't on. I checked. So all is well. We've had a worrisome day for no reason.
We got home and waited for Gage to wake up to go to the grocery store. Only spent $50... WOW! It's usually never under a hundred. We were checking out and Gavin told the man at the register that 'My mommy's gonna have a baby', to which I replied (a little too quickly and loudly) ' Oh no I'm not!' The poor guy couldn't ring up the groceries for laughing so hard. He was still laughing at my children as I was pushing the buggy out of the store. I'll say it again, Oh my boys...

Ouch...
Me and my sister have started walking every week because I'm doing the body after baby challenge and she just wanted to get in shape too. We usually walk 3 miles down the road at my moms house which is kinda tough because the road we walk on has a lot of hills!
This Tuesday for some crazy reason, we decided to walk in the mountains instead. We started at a logging road right below my moms. We took off at a pretty fast pace and very soon we slowed down, couldn't breath, and looked at each other like 'what were we thinking?' We were walking on a road that 4-wheelers drive on so it wasn't really rugged, it was just steep! We kept having to stop and rest.
We made it to the top though. We decided instead of coming back down the mountain, we'd go around and come down another side of the mountain, making a big circle coming out at the top of the road my mom lives on. Again, we looked at each other like 'Are we really this stupid?' This time however we started out slower. The climb got even steeper than the one before but we eventually made it.
We started back down the mountain at what used to be another logging road but it hadn't been used in a few years. It was just a huge gully that was deeper than we were tall and it was completely covered in briers, trees, and weeds. Me and my dear sis said there was no way we were going to turn back now we'd come too far. So we started down. We had to actually jump into the ditch, dodge briers, poison ivy, and tree branches! (ohhhh we were dumb...) On the bright side, there were some blackberry bushes and I would grab some and eat them while I stumbled down the side of a mountain! It took a long time to make our way through that mess. We finally did... with a few scratches and bruises but we made it! There still was a ways to walk down but it wasn't anywhere near as bad as what we'd already been through.
Also being dumb, we decided last minute to go up the mountain so we didn't tell our mom, who was watching 6 of our kids! Last time we walked down the road, it took us 1 hour and 20 minutes. We got an earful when we got back this time! My mom was thinking it would take as long as it did last time. She said 'What took you so long, you've been gone 3 hours!' She said she was about to load up 6 kids (ages 4, 3, 2 1/2, 20mo, 14mo, and 4mo!) and go looking for us! I thought she'd be proud of us for doing it and my sister said she'd just call us stupid. Guess who was right?! Well at least I'm proud of us :) I told my sis that our husbands wouldn't believe us when we told them what we did. Luckily I have the scars to prove it!
