So, some of you know that my husbands aunt died right at a month ago. She had no will, no life insurance, nothing. It was really unexpected. At first the family wanted us to take over her house. But the bank kept going back and forth. One day they said 'Yeah you can go ahead and move in.' Then the next, 'Oh, you'll have to refianance the house and your credit has to be so and so' Well to be perfectly honest, our credit sucks! The house is sitting in probate for now and they said if we could get our credit up in that amount of time, we could have the house. If not, the house would go up for auction.
Well, I had pretty much lost all hope. I just knew we wouldnt be able to get it. Gavin has been so excited, telling people about his new bigger bedroom. We (well my husband and his grandma) has worked so hard to get the place cleaned up. His aunt had stopped taking care of the yard and house for some reason. They have been mowing and cleaning the house until now, it looks so wonderful and then the bank made us think we couldnt have it after all the work had been done.
Today Hubbys grandma went to a probate meeting, and they told her that she was the heir to her daughters estate and that she could do anything with the house she wanted to as long as the payments were made. So the house is staying in his grandmothers name for now. And that means.... WE"RE GETTING THE HOUSE!!! We'll be making the payments and when our credit goes up a bit (by mid next year probably), we can have it refinanced in our name! Tomorrow, his grandmother has something else to do, Saturday the plumber has to fix a pipe and then we'll be able to start moving stuff in!
It might be a little bit (up to a couple weeks) for us to get completely moved it. There's the switching of all the utilities and reconnecting the phone, internet, tv all that stuff. My husband and his family are so exhausted from all the other stuff they've had to deal with, his Grandma said tonight 'Lets rest a little bit before we start moving everything!' I agree. They've been very busy they all need a few days to relax.
So once we get in, I might not have internet access right away (oh no!) but I'll do my best to keep you all updated. I'll go to my brothers house to do it if I have to! I've got a review/giveaway coming up next month so I'll have to find a computer somewhere!!!
I know we'll be so much happier there. It's probably more than twice the size as we're living now. It has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living room, den w/ a fireplace, kitchen, library, and a huge pond in the backyard with at least 30 ducks and geese. Hubby is getting rid of all of them except the wild mallard ducks b/c they poop everywhere including the neighbors yards. That's fine with me as long as we can keep the cute little wild ducks, I love them :) The boys do too. Gage say quack quack when he sees them! We are going to have to fence in the front yard so the boys can't go anywhere near the pond. It terrifies me but I don't let them out of my sight anyway so I think it'll be fine. I mean this pond is so big it's at least twice the size of the house. I'll have to take a picture of it for you guys, it's beautiful!
So wish us luck as we make this move and I hope everything goes well!
